This guy was caught in a snap trap and eaten by his relatives. The peanuts are the bait I used.

Obviously I caught someone's pet and they had no clue how to open my trap. I had already caught a oppussum and a black cat which ended up in the hands of the city - they probably felt desperate they were going to lose another cat, I guess. Time to move on and let them work out their differences I had temp fills in the holes in the foundation and since they were still in place I sealed them and called it a done job. At least I still have my trap - which can be repaired enough to keep using.

The trash can does 3 things for trapping - One is to keep it out of the bad weather. I can be fined a lot if an animal dies in my trap - even if it is one they (the City) will kill by policy. Weird but true. 2ndly it will prevent an animal from attacking the food through the mesh and setting it off without going in it. 3rdly a can will also prevent any animal from digging up what dirt it can and dragging it into the trap - leaving an ugly scar in the turf, Some of these homes are in the multi-million dollar range and they all seem to have an interest in the lawns looking good. pfft!

I see a need to develop laminated instructions with illustrations of them. Then keep it attached to it with a heading like: "If your pet is caught here is how to let it out. Please call if you have difficulty."



BTW no one loses their cat with me. They can always go down to the shelter and get them. Of course they have a standard you must meet to either show they are licensed or get them licensed - which also means they have to have all their shots, etc. AND if they are not neutered it cost like 5 times more for the license. Too many people just have ouside cats they do no more than feed and those are the ones who won't go get them if they have to spend money on them.
